Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions Answered

I chose the agriculture sector because it plays a crucial role in addressing food security and empowering local communities. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the challenges farmers face, particularly in accessing sustainable practices and resources. This sparked my passion for creating a positive impact through farming. CHIKAPU FARMS is my way of contributing to solving issues like food insecurity by promoting organic farming, using local seeds, and educating farmers on sustainable practices.

One of the primary problems I have identified in the agriculture sector is food insecurity, particularly in local communities that struggle with access to nutritious food. At CHIKAPU FARMS, we are working to address this by focusing on sustainable farming practices that reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers and promote organic farming. Another challenge is the lack of knowledge and resources available to smallholder farmers, which often leads to poor yields and unsustainable practices.

In the next five years, I see CHIKAPU FARMS as a thriving and sustainable agricultural business that is recognized for its commitment to organic farming and empowering local communities. I envision expanding the farm's operations to include a wider range of crops and reaching more farmers through education and cooperative building.

If selected for this program, I would use the investment to strengthen and scale CHIKAPU FARMS in the following key areas: Farm Infrastructure & Equipment, Sustainable Farming Practices, Capacity Building & Training, Marketing & Distribution, and Working Capital & Expansion.

Apart from funding, I would greatly benefit from mentorship & expertise, networking opportunities, market access & distribution channels, training & capacity building, and policy advocacy & support.

CHIKAPU FARMS aims to create meaningful job opportunities for youths in the North West Region by focusing on both direct employment and skills development. We will hire local youth for various roles, offer training programs and apprenticeships, and empower youths to take leadership roles within cooperatives.
